Content Design - Blockly
The Blockly website redesign was a project aimed at improving the way Google’s Blockly—a visual code editor library—was presented to its target audience: software developers building educational tools, and leaders in Computer Science education organizations.
The previous site had challenges in clarifying the product’s purpose, demonstrating its value proposition, and providing clear next steps for developers. The redesigned site focused on addressing these issues, making it easier for developers and key opinion formers to understand why and how they should leverage Blockly.
Target Audience: Software developers building educational tools and apps & Computer Science education leaders
My Role
As the content designer, I partnered closely with the UX designer to revamp the website, ensuring we addressed all needs from the stakeholder brief and aligned with the new marketing brand document. My role centered on clarifying what Blockly is, emphasizing its value proposition, and guiding users toward their next steps.
My Process
Conducted stakeholder meetings to define goals and project requirements
Researched the product to understand how to effectively communicate its value
Rewrote the site copy to reflect a clear and engaging user journey
Collaborated with the UX designer to redesign the webpage layout for better usability
The Tagline
One of the most impactful contributions was creating a new, succinct tagline that effectively encapsulated Blockly’s value proposition and purpose. This tagline became the focal point of our messaging strategy, simplifying and strengthening the site's overall narrative.
Outcomes
The redesigned site resulted in a measurable increase in user engagement, with views and click-through rates increasing by 15%.
